Capacity Building Branch Announces CBA Directory
Date:
Monday, July 12, 2010 The Capacity Building Branch (CBB) in the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) is pleased to announce the launch of a multi-phased initiative to enhance and update the capacity building assistance (CBA) web portal http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/cba/index.htm. The CBA web portal is a centralized online mechanism to responsively address the capacity building needs of the nation’s HIV prevention workforce.
The upgraded CBA web portal serves to 1) increase current and prospective CBA consumer access to and utilization of CBA services; and 2) improve the overall quality of CBA services delivery to CBOs, community stakeholders, health departments, and community planning groups. A myriad of resources will be housed on the CBA web portal, including:
- a more user-friendly CBA Request Information System (CRIS) to obtain CBA services,
- a state-by-state listing of health department points of contact for accessing CRIS, and
- an expansive compilation of capacity building information, tools, and other materials.
You will also find the CBA Directory, a four-section resource guide which provides comprehensive information about CBA terminology and concepts, Branch structure and services, how to access CBA services, what CBA services are available, descriptions of each CBA provider organization, and the “best practice” implementation of CBA in the field. Over the next several months, new sections of the CBA Directory will be released. Currently, the section entitled “Capacity Building Branch (CBB) Grantee Directory” is available on the CBA web portal. This section provides information on funding opportunity announcement PS09-906 Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) to Improve the Delivery and Effectiveness of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Prevention Services for High-Risk and/or Racial/Ethnic Minority Populations funded CBA provider organizations and their available CBA services.
CBB has invested in improving our direct communication with CBA consumers. I encourage you to regularly visit our CBA web portal http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/cba/index.htm for resources to build your organizational capacity to effectively and efficiently conduct HIV prevention.
