This training will review the etiology and symptoms of self-harmful and suicidal impulses and their impact on the client's thinking, emotions, and behaviors.

Conduct Disorder, ODD, and the Antisocial Personality Disorder Spectrum (Sociopathy To Psychopathy) - 5 CEC's

The issue of asocial, antisocial, and antisocial personality disordered behavior will be compared and contrasted. When does the continuum of normative end and where does pathology begin will be a major focus as well as the need to diagnose “traits” to facilitate treatment of undermining behavioral dynamics. How this diagnosis has incorporated the sociopathy-to-psychopathy continuum will also be addressed.

A review of common signs and symptoms and current psychiatric medications will be reviewed for both mental health disorders and substance use disorders.  This course will be interactive utilizing lectures, large group discussions, as well as case studies to reinforce the materials presented.

Utilizing a Client’s Emotional Intelligence in the Treatment Process to Promote Stabilization and Recovery - 5 CEC's

In more recent history, the credibility of an “emotional intelligence” factor determined to be equally important has emerged.  The ability for people to “thrive” versus “survive” on a daily basis appears to be more the result of a combination of both types of thinking, processing, and perceiving. This underlying premise, combined with pragmatic behavioral strategies, allows individuals to process experiences utilizing IQ and EQ and choose self-management and emotion regulation to have more productive experiences and relationships. This training will be very interactive to include video vignettes, small group breakouts, and large and small group discussions.

Adult, Adolescent, and Childhood ADHD - 3 CCEs

Each component of the ADD and ADHD diagnoses will be comprehensively reviewed in regard to the three maturation periods listed. The review will cover diagnostic criteria, complications and challenges within the diagnostic category, current treatments to include current medications, and issues related to gender, culture, etc. as they relate to the diagnosis and treatment of the disorders. Specific focus will be paid to the developmental struggles of individuals not treated as children and the life challenges that increase with maturation.

Adolescent and Young Adult Brain Development and Their Impact on Adult Functioning - 5 CEC's

The information presented will include the influence of brain development and chemistry on clients' decision-making processes and behaviors in this developmental phase. In addition, the impact on learning styles, mental health issues, and substance use will be covered. The specific focus will be on the ongoing impact as the adolescent matures into young adulthood as it relates to functioning interpersonally, vocationally, and behaviorally.iscussions.

Clinical, Case Management, and Administrative Supervision: What to Expect from and How to Provide Supervision - 5 CEC's

The training content covers issues such as contextual factors, stages of development of both the supervisor and supervisee, leadership styles, and the tripartite relationship between the client, supervisee, and supervisor.  Philosophies of change and their impact will also be reviewed. Each participant will complete a leadership style survey to assist them in understanding the unique benefits of their style.
