Community Development
Healthy Families and Communities Project
The Healthy Families and Communities project is focused on developing the capacity of small, faith-based and community organizations in Hartford, Bridgeport, and New Haven that have access to and close connections with targeted Hispanics/Latinos and African Americans. This program understands that the people best able to reach communities of color are those who are already trusted members of that community - churches.

With your support, we:
- Hold day-long workshops focusing on topics such as: the role of faith-based organizations in facing the HIV/AIDS epidemic, building collaborations, and grant writing
- Provide individualized support to faith-based organizations looking to begin HIV/AIDS services.

Project REACH (Real Elders Achieving Community Health)
Project REACH is working to bring together key community groups and local and state government to tackle the issue of growing HIV-infection rates among older minority adults, as well as substance abuse issues. By convening a workgroup made up of local agencies, health departments, and members of the target population, we will create a program to teach all of those who work with, or are a part of, this population how to protect themselves from HIV and substance abuse. Stay tuned!
