Pass Health Care Reform that works for people with HIV

Date:
Sunday, December 20, 2009

Nothing could be more urgent in the fight against HIV and AIDS than the passage of Health Care Reform that works for people living with the disease and strengthens effective HIV prevention. Of the estimated 1.1 million people infected with HIV in the U.S., 500,000 do not have access to adequate medical care.

People living with HIV are routinely denied coverage by private insurers. Many more are discouraged from enrolling by institutions that over charge for HIV drugs or exclude HIV specialists from their networks. By gaining early and reliable access to meaningful health insurance, people with HIV will also have access to effective treatment which will enable them to remain healthy and prevent further transmissions.

Act now! Tell Congress to pass Health Care Reform that works for people with HIV!
