Amy Ortiz, Care and Supportive Services Coordinator

Amy T. Ortiz joined the staff at Latino Community Services in March 2007 and is currently serving as the Ryan White I Care & Supportive Services Program Coordinator. Specifically the programs she manages are the Transportation Program, the Health-Aide Program, Ryan White Title II Case Management Program, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Program, and the LCS Food Pantry. All of these programs focus on assessing and delivering needed services to people living with HIV/AIDS within the Hartford, Middlesex, and Tolland counties. Ms. Ortiz is currently working on her masters at the University of Connecticut’s School of Social Work with a concentration in Policy & Practice and a focus area in Puerto Rican/Latino Studies where she currently maintains a 4.0 GPA.

Ms. Ortiz is a native of Hartford, graduating from Hartford Public High School in 2000. She attended Saint Joseph College in West Hartford and received a double bachelor’s in History and Spanish where she made Dean’s List. In 2002 and 2003 she was a Hispanic Scholarship Recipient and in 2002 a LULAC scholarship Recipient. She also received the C.A.R.E. Award of Excellence and the United Way/YMCA Volunteer award. Though campaigns funded through, Hartford Action Plan on Infant Health she was able to help prevent teenage pregnancies in the Hartford area by speaking to youth about peer-pressure and the importance of abstinence. Prior to coming to LCS, she provided case management services through AIDS Project Hartford Title I Hartford for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
